portrait
we just had to get a drawing done of weston from one of the artists on the popular street in barcelona, la rambla. we printed out a picture of him thinking we would just drop it off to an artist and let them spend some time drawing and we would come back and get it. the artist we chose said it would take a shorter amount of time and be cheaper if weston were to sit in front of him....he obviously didn't know toddlers. we decided to try it out though and entertained weston while he sat there with everything we could possibly think of. meanwhile, the artist kept saying, "hey" to him to get him to look at him...it was really funny to think that having him sit there would work...weston did great though, but it did take double the amount of time, and wasn't cheaper! oh well, it was a memory, and it ended up being pretty cute too..

A Very Merry Chris Post
I thought I'd add a few photos from Tenerife.
Our first day we went to Loro Parque, a bird sanctuary, zoo and aquarium rolled into one big and very expensive looking tourist attraction. Here are some of the animals trying to blend into their surroundings:
The next day was somewhat sunny so we thought we'd hit up the beach and get Weston into the water. Mother Nature foiled our attempt by littering the water and beach with Medusa jellyfish:
Then things got interesting. A wind storm kicked up that had the locals more worried than us (they thought Weston should stay barricaded inside and gave us bad looks when we had him out watching the waves). The wind was so strong it was blowing the tops of the waves making Wavebows®:
We took refuge in a restaurant/bunker and watched the waves pound the beach:
We made another attempt at getting into the water at a black sand beach. The beach was nice but the surf was still too strong for anyone to swim. Weston did, however, enjoy the sand:
A few parting shots before heading back to Barcelona:

Once the wind and rain cleared, the island's volcano was painted in a fresh coat of snow:
Two more. Weston touching some local flowers (as seen through a Photoshop paint filter) and one of him by himself because why not:

tenerife...
we just got back from five days in tenerife...a part of the canary islands. it was a 3 and a half hour flight. thankfully weston slept for 45 minutes of it...better than nothing!
we arrived and it was a very nice day...mid 70's. the place we stayed had a crib ready for weston in our room, so that was a bonus. they were very nice and accomidating at our hotel, and it was in a perfect location.
our first stop was loro park. this is a very famous park that was highly recommended. it was a beautiful park and weston enjoyed it very much. he was able to see all sorts of animals. it was fun to see him really interacting with the animals and actually getting something out of seeing them.
here are some pics from that day...more pics of our trip to come in the next posts...
